In John 11 Jesus finds himself in a community that's grieving the death of Lazarus for the past 4 days. Mary and Martha express a certain level of belief in Jesus as the Messiah, yet they seem to lack a fuller understanding of what that means NOW. We remember that many of Jesus' contemporaries had a rather limited theology of heaven and eternal life...these words are not mentioned in the context of John 11. Then Jesus refers to himself in vs.25 as "the Resurrection and the Life." He's using two distinct words to describe himself.--How would you describe what He means by "the Life"?
